- Canada’s Ports as Enablers of Canadian Public Policy and Economic Prosperity
Canada’s ports sit at the intersection of multiple sectors of the Canadian economy -- imported goods for Canadian retailers, the export of agricultural products and natural resources, and facilitators of cruise tourism. This panel will discuss the role of ports as enablers of Canadian public policy and economic prosperity, and the interplay at work between the major sectors of the Canadian economy.
- UN 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Targets and Indicators for the Canadian Port Industry (In French, English interpretation available)
Sustainable development is based on three dimensions: environmental, economic and social. In 2015, the United Nations unanimously adopted its 2030 Agenda, including 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These 17 SDGs cover the three dimensions of sustainability and are broken down into specific targets to be achieved at the country level. This panel will outline a research project under way to contextualize the SDGs for each port participating in the project, as well as set and prioritize targets for each.
